Activate Studio was founded in 2008 by Arianna Orland and Steve Kovacs. Activate’s mission is to create intuitive, expressive, meaningful digital and physical experiences. Our approach holds the user at its center, fusing leading edge technology with simple clean design.

Steve has been the the lead web developer for Hillman Curtis, the technical director of the New York International Fringe Festival, and the drummer for a new wave band -- among other things. He holds an M.Sc. in Design and Digital Media from the University of Edinburgh and a B.A. in Drama and Philosophy from Duke University.

Arianna has 10+ years experience designing all things digital and physical focusing on the synthesis of creative vision and user needs. In 2006, she earned a master’s degree from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program with a concentration in exploring new interfaces.
